I have been practicing sports since I was a kid: volleyball, artistic gymnastics, tennis and snowboard.
At the age of 10 years old I tried waterski, my father’s favorite sport, which became a passion and almost a job.
I was training every day (after school) from April to October and I was working out at the gym during winter.
Waterski is a sport that requires high concentration, precision and strength but It is also very traumatic. When you try new things you fall a lot, and I can assure you that falling into water at that speed with a ski attached to your foot is not very pleasant!
I came in contact with different therapists such as orthopedics, physiatrists, PTs and osteopathic manual practitioners while practicing such a traumatic sport.
I was always so interested when they were explaining to me why I’d felt pain and what to do to get better and I could remember that pretty easily.
Understanding how I got injured, how my body was reacting and working and how to heel it fascinated me.
When it was time for me to choose a university I was torn between PT and Osteopathy. I knew well what PT did and I knew that osteopathic manual practitioner worked on a lots of different things but I really could not understand very well how.
The osteopathic university seemed pretty difficult but I went to open days in 2 different schools and then the choice was obvious.
I forgot about everything that was scaring me and I enrolled in Accademia Italiana di Medicina Osteopatica.
